Indian Bus Giant Secures Major Contract for UAE School Transportation
Ashok Leyland has announced that the company has received an order of 1,400 units of school buses in United Arab Emirates. According to Ashok Leyland, the deal is the country’s largest-ever school bus supply and the fleet contract is worth AED 276 million (USD 75.15 million). Deliveries will go to Emirates Transport and STS Group.
The order comprise of two models; 55-seater Falcon bus and 32-seater Oyster bus. Both models will be assembled at the company manufacturing plant in Ras Al Khaimah, United Arab Emirates. Around 55% of the parts are sourced locally.
Ashok Leyland's plant in Ras Al Khaimah has a capacity of 4,000 units per annum. Since its inception in 2008, the plant has rolled out 25,500 units, according to the company.
