BYD signs land purchase deal with WHA
Strategic Move to Establish New Manufacturing Facility in Thailand's Eastern Economic Corridor

BYD has signed a land purchase agreement deal with WHA Industrial Development on August 8, 2022 to build its first EV production plant in Thailand. The plot size is 237 acres and is located at WHA Rayong 36 Industrial Estate, Rayong province, Thailand.



According to the company, the plant is expected to start production in 2024 with an annual capacity of 150,000 units per year. Through the new plant, Thailand will become an export hub of BYD vehicles to South East Asia and Europe regions; Cambodia, Denmark, Germany, Israel and Japan.



BYD has appointed Rever Automotive Co. as its Thai representative. Sales in Thailand will commence towards Q4 2020 through CBU imports. Sales target is at 10,000 units during its first year of operation. It is expected that BYD will premiere its ATTO3, a subcompact SUV as its first model to the Thai market.
