Today, August 6, 2024, OMODA & JAECOO (Thailand) officially launched their new electric vehicle models in Thailand, introducing the OMODA C5 EV and JAECOO 6 EV. This marks an expansion of Chery Automobile's market presence in Southeast Asia.
Details of OMODA C5 EV
The OMODA C5 EV is a new electric vehicle equipped with a 61 kWh battery, capable of traveling up to 505 kilometers on a single charge. The starting price for this model is 899,000 baht. This launch responds to the growing demand for electric vehicles in Thailand, particularly among consumers seeking environmentally friendly and high-performance cars.
JAECOO 6 EV
In addition to the OMODA C5 EV, the JAECOO 6 EV was also launched at the same event. This new electric vehicle features advanced technology and a distinctive design. Further details about the JAECOO 6 EV will be revealed later.
Investment Plans in Thailand
OMODA & JAECOO (Thailand) plans to invest in building an electric vehicle manufacturing plant in Rayong province. This plant is scheduled to start production next year, with an initial capacity of 50,000 vehicles per year, increasing to 80,000 vehicles per year by 2028. This plant will serve as a production base for exports to markets in Oceania and the Middle East.
Support from the Thai Government
The launch of OMODA & JAECOO's electric vehicles in Thailand is supported by the Thai government's EV3.5 program, which offers tax incentives and financial support to promote the production and use of electric vehicles in the country.
