Philippines set to achieve 100% EV fleet by 2040

The Philippines Department of Energy (DOE) has recently announced that they have laid out Comprehensive Roadmap for the country's EV auto industry and that the country will limit sales of new internal combustion engines (ICE) by the year 2040.


According to the plan which is set to be issued by the first quarter of 2023 as a Republic Act, the country will mandate new vehicles sold to be 100% electric by 2040.


Similarly, other ASEAN nations' target in achieving 100% electric fleet are as follow:

  • Singapore by year 2030

  • Thailand and Malaysia by year 2035

  • Vietnam by year 2040

  • Indonesia by year 2050
